Skin to Skin: Part 2
Hey everybody! Thanks for stopping by. As promised in the Skin to Skin blog post, below is my list of ingredients to look for in store bought skincare products and some of the best ingredients for DIY skincare products.
Good ingredients to look for in store bought skincare products:
Vitamin A (which is imperative for normal DNA function like cell regeneration; also helps with collagen production, pigmentation, and acne)
Vitamin C (helps with pigmentation, acts as a natural sunscreen that helps with collagen production, and helps fight free radicals that cause your skin to become inflamed)
Antioxidants (like rosemary, green tea, coenzyme, etc. help tackle free radicals)
Best ingredient for DIY products:
dry skin: almond oil (anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, and antiseptic)
oily skin: jojoba oil, coconut, or grapeseed oil (all lock in moisture)
maturing skin: argan, sesame, or almond oil
sensitive skin: jojoba, safflower, or avocado oil
shea butter
Tea tree oil (helps fight breakouts, redness, and inflammation)
Apple cider vinegar (kills bacteria, provides antifungal properties)
Raw honey (antimicrobial)
Sea salt (loaded with lots of nutrients and minerals)
Lemon oil (antibacterial)
Argan oil (rich in Vitamin A and vitamin E)
Aloe Vera (contains healing properties, fights bacteria, sooths inflammation and itching)
This is in no way a comprehensive list of "good" ingredients. There's sooooo much info out there and so many beneficial ingredients, but these are my top picks. I also don't want to steer anyone in one direction or the other in terms of store bought vs. DIY. I personally use a combination of both store bought and DIY products because that's what works for me. So I'm just here to educate, and then you can decide what works best for you. I hope you found this useful! Thanks for journeying with me.
