ABK Review: It's Yours Healthy Hair Care

This month I had the pleasure of receiving more products from It’s Yours Healthy Hair Care!  If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve seen me repost bundle deals and holiday specials from this brand on my Instagram.  You may have also caught my mini review on their products on my Instagram feed, but I have yet to do an in-depth review of the line.  So this post will be a more detailed review of their products.  So let’s get right into it.

I washed my hair with the shampoo.  I usually only focus on applying shampoo directly to my scalp and roots as opposed to all of my hair because the shampoo will run down my hair as a rinse it out. But because it’s called a Detangling Shampoo, I wanted to put it to the test.  I was actually able to finger detangle my curls with the shampoo!  I usually like to finger detangle with conditioner for the extra slip, but this shampoo had enough slip to cleanse and detangle my hair.  As you can see, my curls were very well defined, and my hair didn’t feel super dry or brittle after washing it out.  So this shampoo is a winner in my book!

I rinsed the shampoo out in the shower and immediately applied the Tea Tree Conditioner.  I have a few dry patches on my scalp and I’ve recently started incorporating tea tree oil into my regimen, so I was excited to try this. This conditioner had lots of slip and made my hair easy to detangle, and it also made my hair feel very soft.  It also claims to detangle and hydrate hair while stimulating the scalp, and I definitely feel like it did both of those things.

After rinsing out the conditioner, I sectioned my hair into fours and applied the Leave-In Conditioner. I’ve used this product before on my beachy braid out and on my regular braid out, so I already knew I loved it!  This leave-in has great slip and I actually feel like it locks in the moisture, which is hard to do with my low porosity hair.

Lastly, I put my hair in big twists and let it dry overnight.  The next day, I twisted my hair using the Twist and Curl Cream (and a little water as needed).  I let the twists set overnight, separated them the next day, and these were my results! I also used their edge control after take down and really liked it.  It’s a little tacky upon application, but the product sets quickly and best of all, there is no flaking or build up the next day!  I was super busy on day one, so I didn’t get a picture of my overall style. But I did manage to get a few texture shots!

Overall, I like this line of products.  The shampoo and conditioners are all winners.  The majority of my hair is tightly coiled and coarse, so I didn’t get a super firm hold with the Twist and Curl Cream.  Perhaps someone with a looser curl pattern or curlier (as opposed to coily or kinky) hair would have different results.  My day one hair looked more like day four or five hair, and I was okay with that!  The Twist and Curl Cream will definitely be my go-to if I’m going for a fluffier twist out as opposed to a super defined twist out.  They're also currently having a sale on their travel bundle (while supplies last), so you can basically get a sample of their entire line of products for $20!  If you give these products a try, let me know what you think of them!
